What is REGRANEX Gel?

REGRANEX Gel is the only FDA-approved prescription medicine that
contains platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), a powerful, natural
substance that helps your body heal. It is applied directly to the foot
ulcer. REGRANEX Gel, in conjunction with good wound care, has been
proven to help heal diabetic foot ulcers more effectively than standard
wound care.

How is REGRANEX Gel different from other wound care therapies?
 You
may have heard of, or even tried, other treatments for diabetic foot
ulcers. Most of these treatments help keep the wound clean and moist.
REGRANEX Gel is different because it is the only FDA-approved
prescription medicine that contains a growth factor that helps your
body heal.

Is REGRANEX Gel right for me?
 Some
wounds take a long time to heal. REGRANEX Gel can help this problem in
many patients by delivering growth factor directly to the foot ulcer.
If you have diabetes, you may need to take insulin
because your body does not make enough insulin or because your cells do
not use it well. In a similar way, you may need REGRANEX Gel because
your body may not make enough of the growth factor you need for your
wound to properly close and heal. REGRANEX Gel gives you more growth
factor than the amount you have, so your diabetic foot wound can heal
more normally.

Is REGRANEX Gel safe, and are there any side effects?
 REGRANEX
Gel has been tested and found to be safe on hundreds of patients. When
used correctly, REGRANEX Gel is generally well tolerated. REGRANEX Gel
should not be used in patients with cancers at the site of application.
In a safety study, patients treated with 3 or more tubes of REGRANEX
Gel had an increased risk of death from cancer at locations in the body
other than the ulcer. Talk to your doctor about risks of cancer and
tell your doctor if you have or have had cancer.

 In
clinical studies, a small percentage of patients treated with REGRANEX
Gel or placebo gel experienced rash near the wound. REGRANEX Gel should
not be used by patients sensitive to any components of this product.

What does "good wound care" mean?

For REGRANEX Gel to be effective, good wound care must be followed. Good wound care includes:
- Your doctor or healthcare professional removing dead skin/debris from the wound whenever necessary
- Keeping weight off your feet, perhaps by wearing special orthopedic shoes or by other methods
- Your doctor or healthcare professional treating any infection of the wound
- Continuing to visit your doctor or healthcare professional and following your treatment plan

Why does my doctor cut open my wound just when it seems to be healing?
 Most
diabetic foot ulcers will need to have dead tissue removed before
healing can happen. There are many methods for removing dead tissue.
Sharp debridement is a common procedure in which your doctor uses a
sharp instrument to remove the dead tissue from your diabetic foot
ulcer. Sharp debridement is an accepted and proven way to get rid of
dead tissue from a wound and to draw healthy blood to the diabetic foot
ulcer. It is necessary for starting the healing process. If necessary,
your doctor can give you a numbing medicine (anesthetic) so that you
will feel no pain. After sharp debridement, your diabetic foot ulcer
may look bigger or even bleed. Don't be alarmed. The diabetic foot
ulcer may look bigger, but it will be healthier because your doctor has
cut away the dead tissue. You should have your ulcer debrided every 7
to 10 days until the wound is free of dead tissue. Your diabetic foot
ulcer now has a better chance to heal.
